Come to a Park District park and explore animal tracks, look for and listen to birds, study plants and soil, learn to compost and recycle and try your hand with the Enviroscape™ watershed model at Nature Camp to be held at Thayer Ridge Park. The Park District invites children ages 8-12 to attend camp on Thursday, July 17 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Parents may drop their child off and return for pickup at 12:30 p.m. Pack a lunch and upon pickup we invite you to eat at the park with your child/granchild. The camp is designed to engage children in outdoor fun to create pathways for lessons in nature, conservation and ecology. The camp will include six hands-on stations allowing the children a 30-minute activity on various nature-related topics. Research shows that children who play outside are more physically active, more creative in their play, less aggressive and exhibit better concentration.
